Rudy Murray is an accomplished Organ Transplant Coordinator and Trainer with over 20+ years of experience leading high-priority initiatives throughout the nation. To date, Rudy brings an extensive background involving on-site/off-site clinical supervision, crisis management, coordinator training, and building high-impact teams through conscious leadership and open-door perspectives. Applying this in every operation, Rudy is passionate about maximizing organ donation by building Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) and strengthening their relationships between physicians, nurses, hospital executives, and community members.
A West Point graduate majoring in Psychology, Rudy’s early years were marked by significant extracurricular involvement, including volunteering with various community organizations. Following graduation, Rudy was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant for the US Army Corps of Engineers and served as a Platoon Leader with the 1st Cavalry Division. Later transitioning to the organ donation field, Rudy spent four years as a Transplant Preservationist in Washington, DC assisting in the OR and on organ recovery flyouts. He joined the Nevada Donor Network in 2008 – contributing to its transformation into a top-performing organization. Initially a distressed organization, Nevada Donor Network was ranked the #1 OPO by Medicare in organ donation with 3X organs transplanted.
At Nevada Donor Network, Rudy trained and inspired multiple coordinators and managers, which resulted in maximized organ donation efforts and strong networks with transplant centers across North America. His leadership and strategic propositions also led to significant increases in revenue growth, team expansion, and the development of a healthy organizational culture. The Nevada team has been spotlighted by the US Dept of Health and Human Services for exemplary kidney placement and achieving a 20-30% yearly increase in transplanted organs. This is alongside achieving a Tier 1A ranking nationwide for organ donors and increasing annual referrals from 571 to 3,585.
Today, Rudy is seasoned in multiple department organ donation processes, including organ services, hospital education, and community outreach. In addition, he is respected for delivering cross-functional support focused on improving departmental performance, forecasting, and policy development. Complementing this tenure, Rudy also earned 2 American Society of Quality certifications, and founded Donation Consultants. Here, Rudy and his team actively assist other OPOs in training their staff and organizing leadership to accentuate the lifesaving potential of every transplantable organ.
Beyond his professional achievements, Rudy is known for his motivational approach, effective execution, and ability to foster a positive team atmosphere. He has presented at regional and national levels, including for NATCO, and has a proven track record in building trust with medical professionals. This is alongside keeping a firm pulse on healthcare accessibility for the underserved and carrying a deep commitment to making positive impacts in the organ donation industry and for every person he connects with.
With roots in Las Vegas, Rudy enjoys spending time with his family, playing Minecraft with his sons, and engaging in diverse community service activities.
